Job History
July 2005 – Present – Modis, Inc.: Contract programmer supporting UK-based customers of FIS, Inc. (formerly Equifax Card Services). Support for UK customers includes defect resolution, custom development, and integration and testing support for two credit card compliance release per year. Also develop corrections and enhancements to The Bankcard System for FIS, Inc. in the U.S. Developed COBOL code, test JCL, and documentation generator in bash and Python in support of one large development effort. Developed a release content data analysis and reporting tool in Common Lisp for UK client.
March 2004 – July 2005 – Atlanta Journal Constitution: Support analyst on the Publishing Technology team. Supported users of the Digital Technology, Inc. AdSpeed and PageSpeed newspaper publishing software. Worked with users to develop reports using the scheme-based Elixir tool and Sybase stored procedures. Developed cron-driven 24x7 bash scripts and perl programs for interfacing ad feeds from mainframe applications for direct insert into Sybase database on Solaris servers. Also performed some troubleshooting on newspaper's web applications.
Jul. 2001 – Sep. 2003 – Equifax Card Services: Programmer working on system enhancements and credit card compliance releases.
Dec. 1998 – July 2001 - Netzee, Inc. (formerly CardPlus): Contract programmer working for customers of Equifax Card Solutions. Designed and coded a merchant transaction settlement system. Designed and coded an authorizations network definition and task scheduling system (mainly in assembler). Lead analyst on project to upgrade ECS Bankcard system to use MasterCard IPM bit-mapped message format. Wrote an IPM test data utility integrating Excel spreadsheets, Perl file and text manipulation programs, and mainframe COBOL programs.
Sep. 1997 - Dec. 1998 - SunGard Insurance Systems: Code library/build manager and maintenance programmer for the EAS general ledger client/server system. Formalized the build procedure and reduced build time from 3 days down to 1. Used makefiles, DOS/Windows BAT files, and Unix shell scripts. Wrote some source code manipulation tools in Visual Basic 3. Maintained InstallShield script. Coded some C language programs with embedded SQL, targeting SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2. Maintained Visual Basic 3 and MicroFocus COBOL applications.
Oct. 1989 - Sep. 1997 - Equifax Card Solutions (formerly FBS Software): Managed card association compliance for the Bankcard System. Analyzed business and technical requirements from Visa, MasterCard, and Europay; wrote design documents, coded much of the work myself, and supervised up to two additional coders. Produced two compliance releases per year. Designed and implemented several flexible file structures for supporting rapidly changing and increasing data requirements with minimal file conversions.
Feb. 1989 - Oct. 1989 - American Software, Inc.: Coded customized enhancements to the Purchasing and Materials Management product.
Mar. 1985 - Feb. 1989 - Wachovia Bank: Maintenance and support programmer on the bankcard application team. Managed interfaces with outside data capture providers and merchants to bring transaction files into the system. Helped upgrade authorizations system, in assembler, to support Visa and MasterCard variable bit-mapped message formats. Managed card association compliance releases in my last two years there.
